Cafe Sappore series

The Un-Scripted Theater Company returns to short-form with 3 Evenings of Improvisation in North Beach.

For those of you not hip to the improv lingo, "short-form" is an evening jam-packed full of improvised scenes, games, songs, comedy, drama all rolled into one. Un-Scripted brings its special flavor of "full range" improvisation, meaning the full range of emotions, from sheer joyful fun to a touch of touching drama. This show is non-stop high energy, with lots and lots of scenes, games, and most definitely an improvised song or two.

Show Notes

How does this show work? First of all, you come to Caffe Sapore in North Beach, this Friday, January 23rd at 8pm. Actually, you get there a little early so you can order a double decaf mocha latte and a slice of quiche for yourself and a beer and a gourmet sandwich for your friend, or, heck, maybe even a date. The two of you sit, laugh, talk and generally enjoy the good conversation and enchanting North Beach atmosphere.

Then the show starts. Six improvisors take the stage and perform various amazing feats of theatricality before your very eyes, based on your suggestions. You’ll laugh. You’ll cry because you’re laughing so hard. You’ll lean over to your friend or your date or whoever, and whisper, “This is better than Jesus Christ Superstar.” Your friend will say, “You mean Cats.” You’ll say, “Is that the one on roller skates?” Your friend will say, “No, that’s Starlight Express.” And you’ll realize you can’t tell the difference between one Andrew Lloyd Webber show and another. Then an improvisor will ask for a musical style for the next scene. You’ll yell “Andrew Lloyd Webber!” and marvel as they perform the climactic scene from the never-before-seen-because-they-just-made-it-up musical “Rubber Bands”.

Ah… Good times.
