Un-Scripted
Internship Program
We are now accepting internship applications for our 2008 season: Theater: The Musical, Un-Scripted unscripted, and The Great Puppet Bollywood Extravaganza. Ideally, the company would like to see
at least one intern in each of the following categories: Production,
Lighting, and Musical Improvisation. To apply, download a copy of the
application for Production Intern, Lighting Intern, or Musical Intern,
fill it out and email to christian - at- un-scripted.com. Read below
for further information about the program!
Qualified interns work closely
with the production team to ensure that shows go smoothly, while
receiving valuable education and experience. Each show has its own
internship program tailored to the specifics of that show, and the special needs it has or specialized skills it requires. In exchange
for their time commitment, interns receive free training and valuable
experience.
An internship typically looks something like the following:
- The Production
Intern works with the production team to help with publicity, house
management, ticket sales, concessions, and other necessary functions
that keep the show running!
- The Lighting Intern
learns all about lighting for an improvised show, from helping with
light hang and load-in, to shadowing lighticians in the booth, to
lighting shows alone.
- The Musical Intern
works with the Musical Director (David Norfleet), attending rehearsals
and learning to accompany improv, specifically learning how to score
scenes and improvise along with singers in a Broadway style.
The next section provides
prospective applicants with more information regarding the following
aspects of the program: Work Aspect (Box office/House
management/Lightician), classes, professional theater experience, and
certification/recognition.
Box
Office, House Management, Lightician Duties
Interns must commit to work in the box office, as an usher, or as a
lightician during the run of the show. As an intern, you will be expected to work a majority of the
performances. You will get a chance to indicate your availability on the production calendar.
Classes
During your internship, all Un-scripted classes are FREE! Additionally,
classes will be scheduled to accommodate interns when possible.
Experience
Interns may sit in on rehearsals, and are always welcome to sit
in on our post-show notes process. This is an excellent opportunity to
gain a birds-eye view of how a professional theater company operates.
Our internship will look great on your resume or college application!
Feedback
We want to learn from you, too! At the end of your program, we’ll be
taking feedback on how we could make our processes better.
Recognition
and Certification
In addition to being recognized in our show program, interns will be
honored in a graduation ceremony on closing night. Upon completion of
your internship, you will receive:
- A certificate of
completion
- Some Un-Scripted schwag of some sort!
- Free admission to
shows in the Un-Scripted 2008 season (subject to seating
availability if no reservation)
FAQ’s:
Q: Is there an age limit?
You must be at least 18 years of age, or have written parental consent.
A:How do I apply?
A: Download the application and send it to christian at un-scripted.com
Q: What happens after I
submit my application?
A: If you are qualified, the production team will contact you for a
phone interview.
Applications are then presented to the group with an overview of the
interviews. Prospective interns may be asked to attend a group
interview if necessary. The final decision will be made by group
consensus.
Q: When can I expect to
start working?
A: Once interns have been selected, we’ll contact you regarding the
schedule.
Q: Is there a limit to how
many internships I can do?

one internship at a time.
Q: How many positions are
available?
A: Again, it varies by show, but probably one to two in each category such as: Production, Lighting,
Musician, etc.
