Guest Improvisor
Program
Interested in improvising with the Un-Scripted Theater Company? You’re in luck. The Un-Scripted Theater Company keeps slots open for guest improvisors in almost every show we do. If cast, you will become a full cast member of Un-Scripted for the complete rehearsal period and performance schedule of the show. You’ll get to work with our experienced coaches and directors to help you hone your improv skills, and you’ll perform in an intimate ensemble environment with other skilled improvisors who love to push themselves and the craft of improv. It’s a short-term, intensive program that allows you to get involved with Un-Scripted for a couple of months at a time, and for Un-Scripted to learn from you and your unique talents and skills while you perform with us. Each run of shows we do is different, so please take a look at our upcoming show schedule and see if there is anything that excites you as an actor. You can audition for as many shows as you like, and there is no limit to the amount of times you can perform as a guest with Un-Scripted. We are always looking for talented, committed improvisors to help us put on professional improv shows, so if you’re looking for an established theater company to hone or showcase your improv talents, please contact us (staff -at- un-scripted.com) and we will schedule you for an audition.
In order to give you the best opportunity to show us your improv skills, we try to keep our auditions as light and low-pressure as possible (more like a workout or improv jam than a normal theater audition). We’ll even email you the audition paperwork ahead of time, so you can fill it out in the comfort of your own home and bring it with you. We want our auditions to be fun and stress-free, so you can just come and play with other improvisors who love improvising as much as you do.
Upcoming Auditions
The Un-Scripted Theater Company will next be holding auditions for Un-Scripted: Unscripted sometime in June. Dates will be posted soon; in the meantime, if you're interested, email info (at) un-scripted.com, or join our mailing list to keep up with the latest show and audition info.

Inside the Guest Program
Q: How often do we rehearse?
A: We approach each new run of shows like we would a play, so we might be rehearsing more than you're used to for improv. Rehearsals start at least a month before opening, and we practice once and sometimes twice a week, depending on the show. Rehearsals continue once a week after the show opens, so we can build on what we've learned from the performances.
Q: How often do we perform?
A: It varies from show to show -- usually a show will run a month or so, and performances are mostly two or three times a weekend.
Q: Do I have to be at all the performances?
A: You WILL get nights off. Our casts are built to rotate, so not everyone has to be in every show. On the show schedule, you'll be playing in a certain number of shows, and performing support duties at others.
Q: Woo hoo, do we get paid?
A: We value our performers, and this year we're pleased to be able to offer everyone a small stipend. It ain't much, but it'll help ya pay for parking, gas, or donuts. We do this because we love it, and we're thrilled to be able to start paying. Stick with us . . . who knows where we'll be in another five years?
Q: What happens after the show closes?
A: Why, you become one of our esteemed alumni! For a year afterward, you can come see our shows for free. And if you had fun playing with us and you're up for another round, you can go ahead and audition for the next show! Or, one further down the road. As we said, people are free to guest with us an unlimited number of times.
